Living Room Studio was founded by Nina Ong. Nina creates thoughtful experiences that delight, inspire, inform, and explain. In addition to her work through Living Room, she brings her knowledge of visual and information design to the City of New York, as Director of Analysis & Design for the Department of Technology, overseeing the interface design of web-based application projects for more than 60 City agencies and the Mayor's Office.
Previous to working with the City, Nina was at Thirteen/PBS, where she developed thematic content for the animated series Cyberchase, a show that takes an unconventional approach to teaching conceptual math and problem-solving to kids. Nina was also the Design Director at Funny Garbage, involved in a diverse range of projects for Cartoon Network, CNN, the Independent Film Channel, Knoll, Noggin, NASCAR, Warner Brothers, and the Whitney Museum of Art.
Nina holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania and was a Visiting Scholar in Mathematics at Oxford University. Prior to working in the design field, she was a mathematician for a Wall Street firm, creating models to predict the bond markets. She also holds an M.S. in Communications Design from Pratt Institute. Nina has received recognition for her ideas, art direction and design from How magazine, the Art Director's Club, Macromedia and the Markle Foundation; examples of her design are included in the book Paperie, produced by Kate's Paperie.
